The law related to the National Assembly member elections has stipulated that the Province Assembly members and chief/chair and deputy chief/chair of local level are only eligible to cast their vote in the election to to the member of Upper House. Karnali has a total of 191 voters including 156 chief and deputy chief and chair and deputy chair at local level and 35 province assembly members. Each provincial member vote has a weightage of 48 while each chief/deputy chief/chair/deputy chair vote has a weighatge of 18. With this, Karnali has a total vote weightage of 1,680 from province assembly members and 2,808 from local level chief/deputy chief/chair/deputy chair. In the national assembly member election in Karnali province, the CPN (Maoist) has the highest votes with 52 chiefs/deputy chiefs at local level and 12 province assembly members.
The total vote weightage of voters from the CPN (MC) is 1,512 including 936 from local level and 576 from province assembly members. Likewise, CPN-UML has 45 chiefs/deputy chiefs at local level and 13 members in the province assembly. Total vote weightage of CPN-UML in Karnali is 1,434. Nepali Congress has 40 elected chiefs/deputy chiefs at local level and six members in the province assembly. With this, NC has a total vote weightage of 1,008. The CPN (Unified Socialist) which was a breakaway faction of the CPN (UML) has a total vote weighatge of 378 in Karnali province. Rastriya Prajatantra Party has a vote weightage of 48. Six candidates have field their nominations in Karnalif for NA member elections.
